Boxelder Bugs
Boxelder bugs have red and black bodies and are known for the numbers in which they usually appear. This is because these bugs reproduce in large numbers. Despite the size of the infestations, however, boxelder bugs are mostly a nuisance pest. They do not sting, bite, or commonly transmit disease. They are also unlikely to cause serious structural damage, although their feces or urine can leave marks or streaks on certain light material such as fabric.
Homes and even commercial buildings near boxelder and maple trees are frequent targets for activity as these are the boxelder bugs’ favorite food source.
