Mosquitoes

There are two species of mosquitoes that we encounter in Colorado: Aedes and Culex.

Aedes mosquitoes are often found by standing water and are more active during the day. Culex mosquitoes are more active at at dawn and dusk when the temperatures are cooler. Common breeding grounds for mosquitoes include gutters, containers, buckets, tires, plant pots, etc with standing water.  Mosquitoes can also lay eggs in moist soil such as when lawn is overwatered.

Mosquitoes can especially be a hazard due to the diseases and parasites they carry. In Colorado, these include West Nile virus, Western equine encephalitis, and St. Louis encephalitis.

While total mosquito control is impossible, professional pest control companies like Pioneer Pest Solutions can effectively manage and significantly reduce the population on your property.
